Chamber becomes warm clothing donation point to support the most vulnerable this winter

Warm clothes.

Stoke-on-Trent residents are being asked to continue to donate warm clothing, if they can, to help those in the city who are most in need over winter.

Staffordshire Chambers is one of three new donation points for Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Stronger Together Through Winter campaign, that is helping to distribute warm clothing for adults and children throughout the community.

The new donation points include:

  • Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce (Commerce House, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 5BE) – open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday
  • Port Vale FC shop (Port Vale Football Club, Hamil Rd, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 1AW) – open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday
  • Stoke City FC (West 2 Car Park, Bet365 Stadium, Stanley Matthews Way, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 4EG) – open 10am- 5pm Monday to Friday (no donations the day before and the day of a first team game)

The donation points join the existing box at the Potteries Centre, on the upper mall by Jack and Jones which can be accessed throughout the shopping centre opening times of Monday – Wednesday and Friday – Saturday 9am – 6pm, Thursday 9am – 8pm and Sunday 10:30am – 4.30pm.

Cllr Abi Brown, leader of the city council said: “It’s fantastic to see three more donation points joining this initiative and I’d like to thank all three of the organisations involved.

“I am proud to see residents and groups across our city coming together to help those most in need, particularly at a time when we know many households are feeling anxious about the rising cost of living. This support is really appreciated.

“This kind of support is exactly why Stoke-on-Trent was voted the kindest city in the UK. We have a proven track record of coming together to support others when they need it most. We know that times are tough for everyone but I’d urge anyone who does have any unwanted warm clothes to donate them to support our most vulnerable residents this winter.”

Sara Williams, CEO at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce said: “Staffordshire Chambers is proud to support this fantastic initiative that is providing vital resources to the most vulnerable during what has been, and continues to be, a very difficult winter.

“One thing that we have found is that the feeling of togetherness is very much alive and well across Staffordshire, and I’m confident that the scheme will be well-supported across the new drop off points.

“Please do call in to Commerce House – any donations no matter how big or small are welcome, and thank you in advance for your generosity.”

Residents can make donations until 31 March 2023.
