Planning & Infrastructure Online Forum

Thursday 30th July 2020 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am UTC

Our specifically tailored sector Forums bring together business leaders, drawn exclusively from our diverse Chambers membership. The Forums are a great opportunity to meet experts in your field, raise any potential issues and share new opportunities within the Staffordshire business community. Our Sector Forums steer our policy making process, ensuring that your voice is heard by decision makers.

This forum is tasked with exchanging information on planning policy, construction and regeneration. Recent topics covered include: Joint Local Plan for Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Local plans for Stafford Borough, and the NPPF. It also steers Chambers’ representations on these matters and receives updates on developments in planning law.

Speaker Information:
Ian Ponter enjoys an extensive national planning and public law practice. He is highly rated, consistently featuring in Planning’s list of top-rated junior barristers. He appears for both developers and local planning authorities at inquiries for housing, employment, retail, energy and waste schemes. He also appears at development plan examinations (both promoting and objecting to draft plans), and at CPO inquiries (as well as proceedings in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) dealing with compensation issues arising out of compulsory purchase). On top of his busy inquiry practice, he appears in the High Court on judicial reviews, statutory planning challenges, and injunctive proceedings.
