Growing demand for ATA Carnets as businesses take goods abroad for trade shows and projects.

With international exhibitions, trade missions, and project work abroad on the rise, Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce is seeing increased demand for its streamlined ATA Carnet service — a cost-effective way for businesses to temporarily export goods without customs complications.

An ATA Carnet, often described as a “passport for goods,” allows companies to transport items such as trade show materials, commercial samples, or specialist equipment into over 40 countries without paying import duties or taxes, provided the items return to the UK within 12 months.

“More local businesses are exploring overseas opportunities – whether that’s showcasing at international expos or delivering on-site services abroad,” said Allison Tomlinson, Head of International Trade at Staffordshire Chambers.

“Our ATA Carnet service is already supporting that growth, helping companies move quickly and avoid unnecessary red tape at the border.”

Available through a simple online application process, the ATA Carnet service is one of the most competitively priced in the UK, backed by expert guidance and fast turnaround times — with same-day processing for applications received before 1pm.

Businesses interested in using ATA Carnets or finding out whether their goods qualify can contact the Chamber’s international trade team for tailored advice.
