United Kingdom Certificates of Origin.
We are authorised by the HM Government to certify United Kingdom (UK) Certificates of Origin and authenticate associated documents such as invoices & packing lists.
Certificates of Origin are issued to comply with overseas Customs requirements, Letters of Credit or on occasion at the request of a client.
The Certificate of Origin is a document used in international trade completed by the exporter or its agent and certified by an authorised issuing body (Chamber of Commerce) certifying that the goods are of a particular origin.
From the 1st April, the UK Certificate of Origin are now issued on blank paper. The pre-printed UK Certificate of Origin blank forms are no longer valid and MUST be destroyed.
Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce operates an electronic document processing platform called eCERT.
These platforms enable exporters to apply online for certificates, have them fully approved and stamped by the Chamber and printed out on to plain paper within their own office.
eCERT training is available, please click here to be directed to the training courses.
If you require any assistance, please contact the international trade team here and outline your enquiry.

United States of America Certificates of Origin Guidance.
We are aware that you may have queries regarding trading with the USA since the introduction of new tariffs.
As far as we aware the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency does not recognise Certificates of Origin issued by UK Chambers as proof of origin for goods entering the USA.
The Chambers can issue a UK Certificate of Origin but you will need to include in the remarks box the following phase:
The origin of these goods was determined using the non-preferential rules of origin published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency.
Again, even with this added statement we do not expect CBP to accept UK Certificates of Origin as proof of origin, but it may help.
A copy of these rules can be found on our website, and the non-preference rules can be found on pages 8 to 11. These should be familiar to you as they are similar to the UK rules. You must ensure that the goods meet the USA rules before adding the comment in the remarks box.
If the situation changes, we will keep you informed.
Arab-British & Egyptian-British Certificates of Origin.
If your exports take you to any one of the nineteen Arab States or to Egypt, you will generally find that documentation is required.

HMRC Preference Documents.
An EUR1 (movement) certificate is a Customs document which, if your goods qualify, can assist you to claim preference (meaning that your goods can be imported into overseas countries at a reduced or even zero, rate of duty) with countries where trade agreements exist with the UK. Click here for an up-to-date list of countries with trade agreements in place with the UK.
Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce issues and endorses EUR1 certificates on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs.
Guidance can be found on gov.uk and Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce recommends that exporters/agents review the relevant guidance prior to raising the EUR1 certificate.
If you require a certificate issued retrospectively or a duplicate please contact the International Trade team.
