Lucideon Named Finalist for Innovation, Science and Technology Award at Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards 2025.

Stoke-on-Trent-based materials science consultancy Lucideon has been announced as a finalist for the Innovation, Science and Technology Award at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards 2025. The category, sponsored by TMT First, recognises businesses that have successfully utilised innovation, science or technology to enhance their performance over the past three years.

The award criteria focus on identifying ideas, products, methods or processes that are not only new to the business, but ideally new to the sector as well. The judges look for clear evidence of benefits in areas such as commercial performance, operational efficiency, product development or customer experience.

Lucideon has demonstrated consistent application of advanced materials science across a wide range of industries including energy, aerospace, healthcare, construction and defence.

Among Lucideon’s recent innovations is the development of MALLET, a low-carbon, cost-efficient method for encapsulating intermediate-level nuclear waste. This technology was created in collaboration with NUVIA UK and supported by Innovate UK. In the field of battery technology, Lucideon has taken part in a government-backed consortium working to advance solid-state batteries for electric vehicles, as part of the UK Research and Innovation’s Faraday Challenge.

Lucideon has also contributed to high-profile aerospace and space projects, including providing colour calibration standards used by NASA’s Perseverance rover on Mars. In the ceramics industry, the company recently completed a world-first hydrogen kiln trial for sanitaryware production, offering a potential pathway to significant carbon emission reductions.
