During the past six months, both myself and my colleague Rosie Morris have taken part in the UN Global Compact Young SDG Innovators Programme.
The programme encourages businesses across the UK to develop and pitch their own project ideas to help prioritise the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Also involved in the programme were well-known brands and companies such as Asos, Vodafone and Pfizer.
Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce is raising awareness of the SDGs in our monthly spotlight, which helps to support businesses with knowledge and guidance as they progress towards a more sustainable future.
Sara Williams, CEO of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “It is truly inspiring to see two of our youngest employees take part in the programme and develop a fantastic idea aiming to provide a world of resources, tools and support to our local businesses.
“Sustainability and the SDGs are very close to my heart, and as a Chamber, we believe that it is essential for us to use our position in the community to support businesses of all sizes on their green journey.”
Taking part in the programme has been incredibly eye-opening for both me and Rosie. Our project will support our local businesses in becoming world leaders and ensuring that they remain competitive in the ever-changing economy.
We are delighted to have the full support of the Chambers with this project, we are so excited to launch our programme over the next few months.
