Stoke on Trent College Student Daria Sokolnykova Named Finalist for Learning and Development Award at 2025 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

Stoke on Trent College is proud to announce that Daria Sokolnykova has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Learning and Development Award category at the 2025 Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards. Sponsored by Currie Young, this award recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to personal and professional growth, contributing meaningfully to their learning environments and communities.

Since relocating from Ukraine, Daria has shown outstanding resilience and drive—retaking GCSEs while excelling in a Level 3 Computer Games Art and Animation course. She quickly mastered 3D software, became the top-performing student in her cohort, and secured multiple university offers, including a scholarship to Escape Studios.

Daria has contributed to live industry briefs, co-exhibited with Tate Modern collaborators, and supported digital preservation projects with Stoke-on-Trent Council. She also plays an active role in mentoring peers.

Beyond her formal studies, Daria continues to explore independent learning opportunities, refining her skills in cutting-edge 3D workflows and emerging game design practices. Her passion for digital heritage and education continues to drive her to break new ground—both academically and professionally.

“Daria has not only excelled in her own right but has helped raise the profile of the College through her contributions to external projects,” added Hamilton. “Her story is one of determination, creativity, and exceptional progress—a perfect fit for the Learning and Development Award.”
