Alice Charity has been named a finalist for the Responsible Business Award at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards, sponsored by Rydale Roofing. This award recognises organisations that demonstrate strong social responsibility, community engagement, and ethical practices that positively impact Staffordshire.
Alice Charity’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and improve the lives of families across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. They work closely with local agencies and community groups to provide tailored support using a multi-agency approach.
Through diverse programmes including food banks, educational resource delivery, advocacy, and mentoring, Alice Charity ensures comprehensive support is available.
In 2024, Alice Charity supported over 9,200 children and their families by providing 10,944 meals, supporting 3,340 parents and children through the Big Cup community playgroup, and distributing 5,700 presents to 1,404 children at Christmas. These initiatives highlight its commitment to reducing social isolation and addressing poverty.
The organisation facilitates 4,450 hours of volunteering and provides essential items such as clothing, prams, cots, and beds to families in need. Services like the People’s Pantry and Family Services offer flexible support for families experiencing financial hardship, mental health issues, and isolation.
Looking ahead, Alice Charity plans to expand its services to address evolving family needs, focusing on reducing inequalities in child development, improving health and life chances, and supporting parents toward self-sufficiency.
