Dr Amit Jilka and Dr Mumta Jilka, co-founders of Abbey House Dental Practice, have been named finalists for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the 2025 Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards. This award category is sponsored by the University of Staffordshire.
The award recognises individuals who have made a significant impact in building or transforming a business, either by founding a successful enterprise or substantially improving the performance of an existing one. Since acquiring Abbey House Dental in 2012, the Jilkas have expanded the practice from a small two-surgery clinic into a dental group with more than 19 surgeries across multiple sites in Staffordshire.
Key developments under their leadership include the founding of an in-house Training Academy offering accredited dental nursing diplomas to address local workforce needs. They have also invested in their team by supporting mentoring and specialist training in areas such as implantology and orthodontics
Their community involvement includes initiatives such as free dental check-ups in local schools and volunteer-led smile makeovers in partnership with Dougie Mac. They have also contributed to dental education nationally through lectures and work with Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
