The HEX Group has been shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category at this year’s Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Business Awards.

Sponsored by IronMarket Wealth, the category recognises organisations that demonstrate a clear commitment to employee development, engagement, and wellbeing.

With a workforce of over 500 employees across six trading divisions, The HEX Group has consistently invested in its people—from early careers through to long-term leadership roles. Over the past decade, the business has trained more than 200 apprentices through its in-house Centre of Excellence, many of whom have progressed into permanent positions within the Group.

Workplace culture has also been a clear area of focus. In addition to structured development programmes, HEX offers initiatives including flexible working, early finish Fridays, mental health support, and dedicated wellbeing spaces on site. The business runs regular engagement forums, training sessions, and briefings to ensure employees at all levels remain connected and informed.

Recognition and reward remain central. In 2023, the company introduced HEXFEST, a family-focused summer festival attended by more than 800 employees and their guests. Long service is also a marker of stability within the organisation. More than 35 employees have worked at the business for over 20 years, with several members of the senior leadership team having started their careers on the shop floor.
