Declan’s Policy Update: Time to take a business confidence check

8 May 2026

Businesses invited to share impact of local road repairs across Staffordshire.

The Department for Transport is inviting businesses to share real-world examples of how recent road and pavement repairs have improved their operations, following a record £7.3 billion investment distributed to local councils for highway maintenance.

The aim is to gather short case studies highlighting the difference improvements have made locally, from easier access for customers and staff, to reduced vehicle damage and fewer disruptions to day-to-day trading.

Selected stories may be used in government communications, social media and wider media activity to showcase the benefits of the funding.

Businesses will often complain about the condition of local roads, so this initiative also presents an opportunity to highlight areas of the region that have been blighted by potholes and poorly maintained surfaces, as well as any positive change following repair work.

Those interested in contributing are being asked to provide a short summary of their experience, their location, and contact details by 22 May, by emailing industryliaison@dft.gov.uk.
