Ford Mainwaring Named Finalist for Employer of the Year at the 2026 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

Ford Mainwaring has been announced as a finalist for the Employer of the Year Award at the 2026 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards, sponsored by Consultiv Utilities.

Ford Mainwaring provides mechanical and electrical building services to public sector, high-security and educational clients from its Wolstanton base. Since 2022 the business has grown by 49% to £9.2m turnover, and is now the largest independent privately owned SME provider of M&E services specialising in secure sites in the country. Nearly half its workforce have achieved long-service status, celebrated at a dedicated awards event at Port Vale Football Club.

Investment in people has been consistent: £72,000 on employee development in 2025, six apprentices enrolled with at least two added each year, and a guaranteed full-time role on completion. A recent MBO has placed the business firmly in the hands of its management team, with a move to larger Stoke-on-Trent premises planned for 2027.

Stuart Elford, Chief Executive of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Ford Mainwaring is a business that has grown significantly while keeping its people at the centre of everything it does. Nearly half the workforce holding long-service status in a fast-growing business is not something that happens by accident; it is the result of consistent investment, clear progression pathways and a culture that people want to be part of. We look forward to celebrating with them in July.”

The winners will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday 9 July 2026, followed by The After Party, a late-night celebration for finalists, winners and partners.
