Staffordshire Chambers’ export specialist Sylwia Malkowska wins prestiogous national award.

We’re delighted to share that our International Trade team’s Export Documentation Officer, Sylwia Malkowska, has won the British Chambers of Commerce Rising Star Award 2026.

The award recognises individuals who have shown dedication, ambition and a commitment to supporting businesses across the Chamber network.

After being presented with the award at the British Chambers of Commerce awards ceremony in London, Sylwia said: “It is an honour to be recognised among so many talented people.

“I would like to thank my amazing team at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce for their support from day one and for believing in me. This award belongs to them just as much as it belongs to me.

“Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce has given me opportunities to learn, to grow, to challenge myself, and to discover what I’m capable of. I am incredibly grateful and excited to continue learning, growing, and making a positive difference in the future.”

Alison Tomlinson, Head of International Trade at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Sylwia has embraced every opportunity to develop her skills and has made a real contribution to the support we provide to businesses trading internationally.

“She has worked hard to build her knowledge of export documentation while studying for professional qualifications, and this award recognises the commitment she has shown throughout her time with us.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see her recognised at a national level and look forward to seeing what she achieves next.”

Sylwia’s journey with the Chamber began after moving to the UK from Poland with her husband, Lucas. She initially worked in childcare while also taking on a cleaning role at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce.

When a vacancy became available on the Chamber’s front-of-house team, she successfully applied and quickly impressed colleagues with her commitment and willingness to learn.

In October 2025, Sylwia successfully applied for a role in the International Trade team, where she has continued to build her knowledge and expertise in export documentation.

Michael Hayman MBE DL, Chair of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: “Sylwia’s story captures exactly what the Rising Star Award is about: potential recognised, opportunities seized and progress earned through hard work.

“Her determination to learn and grow has made her a valued part of the team supporting Staffordshire exporters. She is an inspiring example of the talent developing across our Chamber Network.”
