Aston Marina named finalist in Small Business of the Year category at the 2026 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

Aston Marina has been announced as a finalist for the Small Business of the Year Award at the 2026 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards, sponsored by NSCG Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group.

What began as a marina and farm shop on the edge of Stone in 2008 has grown into a multi-faceted destination business spanning a 200-berth inland marina, the award-winning No.26 restaurant, The Boat House wedding and events venue, and The Hideaway private dining space.

With 47 employees, the marina has run at 99% occupancy since 2019, drawing moorers from across the UK, and the business has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence every year since opening.

Capital investment has been consistent and substantial, totalling over £1.5m between 2022 and 2025, with recent projects including a 330kVA ground-mounted solar array now generating up to 50% of on-site electricity, full conversion to electric induction across three commercial kitchens, and a wide beam canal boat converted into a floating bridal suite. A 35-bedroom hotel with geothermal heating and rooftop solar is now in planning, expected to create 25 new roles.

Stuart Elford, Chief Executive of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Aston Marina is a brilliant example of what patient, values-led investment in a business looks like over time. What started as a marina and farm shop has become one of Staffordshire’s most loved destination venues, and the ambition they are showing for the future is just as impressive as what they have already built. We are delighted to welcome them as a finalist and look forward to seeing them at Uttoxeter in July.”

The winners will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday 9 July 2026, followed by The After Party, a late-night celebration for finalists, winners and partners.
