In the next few months, we’re hosting a series of round table meetings with many of our local Members of Parliament and you’re invited to join us.
It’s almost a year since the 2024 General Election, with the results helping to reshape the political landscape in our county.
In North Staffordshire, four out of the five constituencies changed colour, with only Dame Karen Bradley retaining the Staffordshire Moorlands constituency. Of the four winning MP across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle under Lyme, three are completely new to the role, with only Gareth Snell having past experience as a Member of Parliament, in recapturing the Stoke-on-Trent Central constituency.
In the final quarter of 2024, we connected our members with all of the local Members of Parliament and not surprisingly, much of the conversation focused on the Autumn Budget, with businesses having to cope with changes to increase both the Minimum Living Wage and employer National Insurance Contributions. Our Quarterly Economic Survey (QES), has detected a fall in business confidence and outlook. The economic picture remains uncertain, with concerns about a global trade war.
If you had the chance to meet with your MP, what three challenges would you like to raise? What business issues would you like to get off your chest?
Our upcoming round table meetings with local Members of Parliament will give you the chance to have your say and connect with elected politicians.
We meet with Adam Jogee, MP for Newcastle under Lyme, on Friday 9th May at 11.30AM. In June, we will be meeting with Leigh Ingham (MP for Stafford) on Friday 6th June at 9.30AM and then Allison Gardner (MP for Stoke-on-Trent South), on Friday 20th June at 1PM. You can join us for a round table meeting with Gareth Snell (MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central), on Thursday 17th July at 2.30PM. We’re also in the process of booking a meeting with David Williams (MP for Stoke-on-Trent North).
We hope to arrange further meetings with Dame Karen Bradley (MP for Staffordshire Moorlands) and Sir Gavin Williamson (MP for Stone, Great Wyrley & Penkridge), later in the year. Watch this space!
You can meet your MP for a 1:1 meeting but there is a real synergy when we bring you together as a group of member businesses. Why not join us at a future MP round table meeting? If you would like to join any (or all) of the upcoming round table meetings, we ask that you book your place by clicking on the events page of our website:
