Staffordshire Chambers staff support coastal conservation efforts on CSR away day

24 July 2026

Policy update: Stafford businesses invited to help shape the town centre’s next chapter.

What will Stafford town centre look like in five, ten or twenty years and who gets to influence that future? Local businesses now have a rare chance to help shape the answer.

Since the turn of the century, the face of our town centres has changed beyond recognition. More of us have chosen to shop online, at a time of the week that suits us. The pandemic kept us away from the very urban centres that served as focal points for so many years. A rise in shop closures and the eyesore of empty commercial premises has given many of the country’s town centres an unappealing feel.

Stafford has faced some of these challenges, but the very future of the town centre is now being shaped and local businesses have a unique opportunity to influence that vision.

Stafford Borough Council and Stafford Chamber of Commerce invite businesses from across Stafford Borough to join us for a special business engagement breakfast to learn more about the emerging Stafford Town Centre Development Framework:

Stafford Regeneration | Stafford Borough Council
https://www.staffordbc.gov.uk/stafford-regeneration

The Framework sets out an ambitious vision for the future of Stafford town centre, including opportunities for investment, regeneration, business accommodation, town centre living and public spaces.

Businesses can sometimes feel that decisions are made without sufficient input from those who create jobs, attract investment and drive economic activity. This breakfast offers a direct opportunity to influence the conversation and ensure the business voice is heard.

Stafford Borough Council is keen to hear directly from the local business community and gather feedback on the proposals, including views on development priorities and targets. This is an important opportunity to help shape the future direction of Stafford town centre.
