Standby UK has been announced as a finalist for the Innovation, Science & Technology Award at the 2026 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards, sponsored by EPX IT.

For 41 years, Standby UK has supplied advanced safety and warning systems to blue light and essential services fleets across the UK. Its latest innovation signals a shift in what that technology can do. Sync & Breathe, built on the MCS-NX Next Generation Control System, uses GPS to coordinate light patterns across multiple responding vehicles in real time, replacing conflicting signals with a single harmonised visual for road users. Once stationary, the Breathe function transitions to a controlled, rhythmic pattern, reducing glare and cognitive overload for responders and the public alike.

The science draws on human visual processing and stress response research, applied to a genuinely overlooked operational problem. With further vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems already in development, Sync & Breathe positions Standby UK as a platform innovator, not just a supplier.

The winners will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday 9 July 2026, followed by The After Party, a late-night celebration for finalists, winners and partners.
