Supporting Staffordshire – exciting developments taking shape!.

Declan’s policy update

It has been a week of announcements about exciting developments taking shape across the region.

Plans have been revealed to transform the iconic Spode Works site in Stoke-on-Trent, reinvigorating the home of one of the area’s most historic pottery factories.

A public consultation is being launched to shape the future of the site, with leisure options including food and drink outlets and a padel court. A new public walking route will also be created to open up the full facade of the China Hall to visitors.

Longer term aspirations for the site point to a vibrant mixed-use destination, bringing together residential accommodation, leisure businesses and creative workspaces.

Further south, Stafford Borough Council is launching a blueprint to transform Stafford town centre. Proposals include a mix of residential accommodation, improved public spaces and a new market hall, with a food court and entertainment offer aimed at both the daytime and evening economies.

The proposals come on the back of recent investment in Stafford, which saw the opening of Newcastle & Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) Institute of Technology (IoT) and the Staffordshire History Centre.

We live and work in a county which enjoys exceptional road and rail connectivity, sandwiched between the West Midlands and North West conurbations and with four international airports within a one hour drive.  It’s no wonder that more and more businesses can see the potential of development opportunities across Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Chambers’ of Commerce has partnered with Knights plc to deliver a Showcasing Staffordshire Planning and Development breakfast event.  Our event responds to the government’s pro-development agenda, bringing property professionals together to debate the key issues that the development industry faces and to consider how the public and private sectors can work together to continue to deliver successful developments in Staffordshire.

We have pulled together a panel of industry leaders drawn from leisure, commerce, housing, and the public sector, who will lead a debate and respond to audience questions.

If you have an interest in some of the developments taking shape across the region, why not join us for what promises to be a fascinating update.

The event takes place at Knights plc in Newcastle-under-Lyme, on Wednesday 29th April from 7.30AM to 9.15AM.  It’s free to attend but delegates must book a place, which will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
