Series of workshops to support mental health and wellbeing among local business leaders

A series of health and wellbeing workshops have been launched to help support small business owners in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Chambers, Momentic and The Better Health Generation have teamed up to offer the sessions after a recent study revealed that over half (56%) of small business owners in Stoke-on-Trent have experienced poor mental health in the past year.

It also found that many owners are struggling with sleep issues, with one-third averaging less than five hours per night.

The report indicates that one in three small business owners work over 46 hours per week, significantly exceeding the national average.

Additionally, three-quarters (73%) of these owners take fewer than 20 days of annual leave per year, far below the 28-day national entitlement.

Anxiety (59%), depression (38%), and loneliness (22%) were reported as major concerns among local entrepreneurs.

In response to these findings, the Chamber will host a series of workshops starting on November 6, focusing on topics such as burnout prevention, resilience, and work-life balance.

These interactive sessions aim to provide business owners with tools to manage their health and wellbeing while running their companies.

Workshops will run through March 2025 and are open to trading businesses in the Stoke-on-Trent area.

Interested business owners can contact the Chamber of Commerce for more information on how to participate.
