Hearts & Hands Stafford, a community group founded in 2020 to support individuals on reduced income during and after the pandemic, has launched an Easter Appeal to provide struggling families with free food hampers.

The self-funded volunteer group aims to assist as many families as possible within Stafford and the surrounding villages who are struggling due to the current cost of living crisis.

The group has been able to give back to the community via their food rescue points and bread stations, where individuals can help themselves to items. Anyone can donate dry foods, which go towards filling the free food hampers.

The Easter Appeal by Hearts & Hands Stafford will provide festive food items and Easter Eggs that will be given out on April 7th, just in time for the Easter Weekend. The group does not charge for the food hampers and will deliver them directly to the doorstep of the recipients.

Lorraine Conkey, Coordinator for Hearts & Hands said: “We are planning to place in each Easter Hamper everything to make a Easter Sunday dinner, vegetables and gravy, meat, potatoes and a dessert, with biscuits a few treats as well.

“It’s heartbreaking that people have to come to us at this time of year, people who work hard and try and provide but are just really struggling at this moment in time. We don’t want to see anyone in this situation so we are trying to do what we can, if you can help by donating that would be really appreciated.”

“We are open Tuesdays and Fridays 10 to 2pm for donations for food, toys, clean clothes, toiletries and household cleaning items with a drop off area to the left of the stand alone building for out of hours drop offs we have a donation shed to the side of the building. Hearts & Hands New Beacon Enterprise Park Weston Road ST18 0BF. At the moment we are looking for Easter non-perishable food items, we will add fresh vegetables and fruit from the surplus food from supermarkets and buy any other items needed including turkey, or chicken or nut loaf.”
